If you can’t make it – no worries. Coding for Windows Phone is as easy! Just like Visual Basic 4 was for coding to Windows. Here is how to get started. Now go grab the tools and see what you can build. Enjoy!

Install the Developer Tools
Easy. Download the tools and follow the wizard. The install / bootstrapper takes care of everything. The tools are free! If you don’t have Visual Studio 2010, it’ll bootstrap in the Express version of the product.

Want to get your Windows Phone App available to others? Just register for the marketplace and you can submit the applications you build for the world to use. You can make your apps available for free or for purchase. Good luck to you becoming wealthy from your app.

Students post apps and code for Free!
If you are a student you and register for DreamSpark (all you need to do is be a student at a verifiable high school, college, or university) you get access to professional-level tools and products at no charge. I’m talking about Visual Studio 2010 Professional, Expression Studio 4 Ultimate, SQL Server, Windows Server and more. But the best part is that students can build and publish applications to the Windows Phone Marketplace at no cost – even the $99 registration fee is waived.
